All work with us falls under the Horticulture award.
more information on this award can be found on the fair work website.
Our picking begins at sunrise and will go usually for 8 hours, but this depends on the heat and the weather.
In the packing shed, normal hours are 7-3, again this can vary depending on what has been picked and the schedule.
All work is based around 12 working days a fortnight as we only have a short timeframe to get all our fruit picked, packed, and sent off.
The hourly rate is based on the current horticulture award wage of $29.33 .
Cherries are paid by piece rate, however please keep in mind the minimum wage guarantee when working on piece rate, which means you will be paid whichever is greater, the hourly rate or the piece rate earnings for each day.
Unfortunately though, due to counterproductivity, we cannot keep on staff that are constantly well below the minimum. if you'd like more information on this, it can be found on the fair work site.
The piece rate varies by block due to crop load but it's usually $10-$14 per bucket. The buckets hold 8kg on average.
We look at the totals for the block, and adjust the rate if needed, to determine a rate that is fair and meets the requirements listed in the minimum wage guarantee.
We minimal capacity to provide campsites for those who are interested.
Our sites have access to basic facilities,bathrooms/showers and camp kitchen, with prices starting at $14/ day.
You will however need to bring along your own means of cooking.
There are plenty of accommodation options in and around Young, with Harden and cootamundra also close.
We do suggest you book in something as soon as you can to secure a spot as it is quite a busy time for our region at that time.
You will be given video & verbal training on your first day of work as well as ongoing training throughout your employment.
At any point you will have a supervisor or manager close by to give feedback and to answer any questions.
You will be paid weekly via cheque.
The pay week runs from Monday to Sunday, you will then be paid the following week.
